BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Penn State advances to the second round of the Big Ten Tournament after picking up a double overtime win over Michigan. The Nittany Lions scored with 4:21 to go in the second overtime period on a Patrick Krispin goal from 20 yards out. Penn State moves to 11-6-2 on the season and Michigan falls to 10-7-1.
Krispin netted his first goal of the season in the games 106th minute. Playing out of a corner kick, Krispin picked up the ball after it was cleared out by the Wolverines and sent a strike from 20 yards out, just past the diving effort of the Michigan keeper.
In the 52nd minute, red cards were issued to Justen Meram of Michigan and Mark Fetrow of Penn State, leaving both teams a man down.
