Sarkodie Named Third Team Academic All-American

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University senior defender Ofori Sarkodie was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Wednesday.
This is the sixth-straight season that the Hoosiers have had an Academic All-American as Sarkodie joins Danny O'Rourke (2004), Chris Munroe (2005) and Chay Cain (2006-08).
Sarkodie is an exercise science major where he maintains a 3.5+ GPA. He is currently working on a pre-med track with plans to possibly attend medical school or become a physician's assistant in the future.
On the field Sarkodie has started all 19 games played at defender this season and helped lead the Hoosiers to eight shutouts and a 10-9-1 record. The Hoosiers are making their 23rd-straight and 34th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament as they play host to Louisville Thursday night on Jerry Yeagley Field at Armstrong Stadium at 7 p.m. ET.
Sarkodie was one of three Big Ten players honored, joining Penn State's Jason Yeisley (first team) and Northwestern's Matt Eliason (second team). In addition, Sarkodie's younger brother Kofi, a sophomore at the University of Akron, was a first-team selection
