Three Hoosiers Earn Longstreth/NFHCA All-Region Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Three Indiana field hockey players were named to the 2009 Longstreth/NFHCA West All-Region first and second teams. Sophomore Corey Brautigam earned first-team honors, while redshirt freshman Morgan Fleetwood and senior Meg O'Connell earned second-team honors.
Brautigam, a First-Team All-Big Ten honoree, started 20 of 21 games for the Hoosiers and scored five goals and tallied two assists for 12 points. She recorded 12 shots, seven of which were on goal. O'Connell, a unanimous First-Team All-Big Ten pick, started 20 of IU's 21 games and scored four goals to go along with six assists for 14 points. She tallied 35 shots on the season and is also a 2009 NFHCA Senior All-Star honoree.
Fleetwood, a Second-Team All-Big Ten selection, led the Hoosiers with 15 goals and tallied six assists for a team-high 36 points. She ended the season ranked second in goals and points in IU's single-season record book, and owns the Hoosiers' season record with 89 shots.
Joining O'Connell at the 2009 NFHCA Senior All-Star game will be IU back Lucy Ireland, head coach Amy Robertson and assistant coach Kelly Doton. Robertson was named a head coach for the all-star games on Saturday, Nov. 22, and Doton will be playing on the USA Field Hockey roster against the all-star team.
The Hoosiers ended the 2009 season ranked 13th in the NFHCA Coaches poll and was a first-round NCAA tournament participant.
