Indiana Women's Golf Signs Two for 2010-11

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University head women's golf coach Clint Wallman announced today that Lindsay Gahm and Sophie Hayashi have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their golf careers at Indiana, beginning with the 2010-11 season.
"I am very excited about Lindsay and Sophie joining us next fall," Wallman said. "Both of them bring valuable experience and will make an immediate impact on our program."
Gahm hails from Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville, Ky. and is the 2009 Kentucky state champion, and well as the 2009 Kentucky Miss Golf award winner. Gahm is a three-time member of the Kentucky All-State team and was the regional champion in 2007 and 2009. She earned Jefferson County All-State honors each of her four seasons at Sacred Heart and was a three-time MVP for the Valkyries. Gahm tied for third at the state championship in 2008. Her individual efforts helped lead Sacred Heart to a team second-place finish at the 2009 state championship and regional titles in 2007 and 2009.
"Lindsay is a fantastic player," Wallman said. "She brings an accomplished resume and a skill set to match. I fully expect her to be a major part of our program and our future success."
Off the course, Gahm has been a member of the Principal's List (4.0 GPA) each of her four years at Sacred Heart and is a two-year member of the National Honor Society. She also earned a pair of letters in basketball and lacrosse.
Hayashi is originally from Carmel, Ind. but has spent the last two years at The David Leadbetter Golf Academy at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla. Prior to moving to Florida she was a member of Brebeuf Jesuit Prep's 2006 IHSAA Girls State Championship team and finished 12th individually as a freshman. She went on to win the IHSAA Girls individual title as a sophomore in 2007 with identical scores of 73. That year she also won county, section and regional individual titles.

Sophie was one of the top players in Indiana winning the Indiana State High School Championship before enrolling at the IMG Academy." Wallman said. "She has made huge strides in her game and I expect her to continue to improve and be a big part of our success in the future."
During the 2008 season, Hayashi won the Indian Golf Association Junior Tour Championship, the Callaway PGA Qualifier, and posted top-20 finishes at the AJGA Old Second Bank Junior Championship, the Indiana Women's Golf Association State Amateur, the AJGA Nationwide Insurance Junior, the AJGA Midwest Player's Championships, the IWGA Women's Match Play, the Callaway PGA Series, the Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT) Whistling Straight Tournament, the FCWT Yankee Trace Tournament, the FCWT Naples Beach Open and the FCWT University of Florida Challenge.
Among Hayashi's finishes in 2009 was a fourth-place showing a the FCWT Mission Inn, a 10th-place finish at the AJGA National Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior, a sixth-place finish at the AJGA Bass Pro Shops/Payne Stewart Junior Championship, and a win at the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour Laurel Island Junior Shootout.
