Six Hoosiers Named NFCA Scholar-Athletes

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana softball head coach Michelle Gardner recently had five of her players named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Scholar-Athlete list for the 2008-09 academic year, where only those players with a 3.5 GPA or higher qualify.
The players from last year's team that received the award include Samantha Berenter, Julie DiNallo, Ashley Hobbs, Kristin King, Sara Olson and Sarah Padove.
The Hoosiers team GPA of 3.13 also ranked as the third-highest among Big Ten schools last year.
Coach Gardner and the rest of the IU softball team continuing their offseason preparations for the Feb. 13 season opener against Jacksonville State in Kennesaw, Ga.
