BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Amanda Timmers has stepped down as the Director of Volleyball Operations, and will now become a full-time graduate student pursuing a master's degree in Health Promotion. Timmers recently accepted a graduate assistantship with the IU School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER).
"I'm excited for Amanda to start this next chapter in her life with continuing her education," said Head Coach Sherry Dunbar. "She has a great opportunity to stay at Indiana and complete her master's, which is something she's talked about for awhile."
"It's been fun for me to watch Amanda grow from a player at the College of Charleston into a professional here at Indiana. As a coach, you don't get many opportunities to coach someone and then hire them right away when you take a new career opportunity. I appreciate all that Amanda has done for us and wish her nothing but the best in the future."
As the Director of Operations for IU Volleyball, Timmers was responsible for handling many of the programs day-to-day operations. Some of her responsibilities included: team travel, tape exchange, coordinating alumni functions and newsletters, film breakdown, organization of community service projects, home tournaments, summer camps and the Hoosier Hitter clinics. Timmers also served as the volleyball liason throughout athletics in addition to her daily duties regarding student-athlete development.
"Working with Coach Dunbar and IU Volleyball has truly been amazing," said Timmers. "The knowledge and experience I gained the past three seasons is invaluable. I am very thankful for the opportunity and will miss the relationships formed while working at IU."
"I am excited to watch the program continue to grow and wish the players and staff only the best in the future."
The national search for Indiana Volleyball's next Director of Operations is currently underway.
