Hoosiers Set to Take on Two Top-25 Teams

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The #30 Indiana University women's tennis team (7-2) hops on the bus this weekend for two non-conference dual matches. The first stop is in Knoxville, Tenn., for a 4 p.m. with the Lady Volunteers of Tennesee. Indiana will then head over to Kentucky for a Sunday showdown with the UK Wildcats at 11 a.m.
The Lady Volunteers have three wins over nationally-ranked opponents, including a win over Big Ten foe Illinois. Kentucky has also taken down a Big Ten school already, defeating Ohio State, 4-3. Tennessee has two individuals ranked in singles and one doubles duo while Kentucky has one singles player and one doubles team in the national rankings.

HERBERT CUP WINNERS ONCE AGAIN
The IU women's tennis program has earned the Adam Herbert Cup for the fall semester. It marks the third consecutive semester in which women's tennis has taken home the award. The Herbert Cup is awarded to the IU program with the highest overall team GPA.
GETTING SIGGY WITH IT
Senior captain Sigrid Fischer is off to a great start of the spring season, winning eight singles matches already compared to just one defeat. In addition, seven of those eight victories came in straight sets as Fischer has won 16 of 19 sets thus far. She has also performed well on the doubles court, pairing with Myriam Sopel to win five of their last seven matches together at No. 2 doubles.
NOT PLAYING LIKE A FRESHMAN
True freshman Megan Matter has jumped immediately into the starting line-up after joining the Hoosiers at the start of the spring semester. Matter not only cracked both the singles and doubles line-up right away, but she has also excelled during the early season slate. The Leawood, Kan., native has posted records of 6-2 and 7-2 in singles and doubles, respectively. She has played No. 3 doubles in every match and No. 6 singles in all but one.
