15 Questions With Nicole Redder

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 18 Indiana Hoosiers women's water polo team has started the season with a 1-6 record, after facing a difficult opening schedule that included five of the top seven teams in the nation. During this stretch, the Hoosiers have maintained a steady defensive effort against their opponents. A key to the defensive success of the Hoosiers has been sophomore Nicole Redder.
The Grandville, Mich., native has started in all seven games for Indiana. Redder currently shares the lead in steals for the Hoosiers with 12. She has twice tied a career-high with four steals in a game this season, first in a 6-4 loss to No. 14 Cal State Northridge and also in a 10-9 overtime loss to No. 7 Arizona State in the Stanford Invite.
The following is a question and answer with Indiana sophomore Nicole Redder:
What do you like most about being at IU? My friends and teammates! We always have a blast together! It wouldn't be the same without them.
What led you to start playing water polo? I guess I just followed in my sister's footsteps. We played on the same team in high school and it was a ton of fun! She taught me a lot.
What is your favorite part of water polo? Actually playing in the games! I also love traveling to different places for tournaments.
What is the most difficult aspect of water polo? The physicality of the game.
Did you play other sports in HS? Yes! I swam and played volleyball.
Favorite hobbies: Puzzles, water skiing, dogs, and sledding.
Most prized possession: My dog, Oreo.
Favorite movies: Inside Man and Slumdog Millionaire.
Favorite TV shows: One Tree Hill and Desperate Housewives.
Favorite food: Fruit! I love all kinds of fruit. Kiwi is probably my favorite.
Favorite sports team: Detroit Pistons
Favorite athlete: Kobe Bryant
Person you would most like to meet: I would like to meet my grandpa that died before I was born.
Most memorable athletic moment: When I was in high school, my sister and I both got bloody noses in the same game. We had to play with gauze up our noses. It was hilarious.
Main goal for the rest of the season: My goal for the rest of the season would be to continue to grow as a team with every game we play, and have fun while were doing it!
