Wyckoff Earns Western Division Rookie of the Week Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana freshman goalkeeper Cassie Wyckoff was named the CWPA Western Division Rookie of the Week by the Collegiate Water Polo Association on Monday.
The Los Altos, Calif. native started three games this past weekend at the Stanford Invite, recording a total of 27 saves and 10 steals.
Wyckoff opened the tournament with five saves and three steals in Indiana's 11-2 loss to No. 2 Stanford. She followed that up with a dominant performance in a 10-9 overtime loss to No. 7 Arizona State, recording career-highs of 15 saves and four steals.
In Indiana's final game of the tournament, Wyckoff made seven saves and three steals in a 6-5 exhibition loss to the US Junior National Team.
On the season, Wyckoff has been impressive against top level competition. Each of her five starts have come against teams ranked in the top 12 nationally. She is averaging nine saves per contest, to go along with a 9.44 goals against average.
The last Hoosier to receive a weekly honor from the CWPA was senior Maggie Hannon, who won CWPA Player of the Week on April 7, 2008.
Indiana currently has a 1-6 record this season, and will return to California for the UC Santa Cruz Slugfest on February 28.
