BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -
The No. 19 Indiana Hoosiers (9-6, 4-0 CWPA West) will take their eight game winning streak to Los Angeles, Calif. for the Loyola Marymount Tournament on March 14-15. The Hoosiers will have a difficult slate of games that features three teams ranked in the Varsity Top 20. They will take on No. 18 Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday at 10:50 a.m. PT, followed by a contest against No. 10 Loyola Marymount at 2:20 p.m. PT. On Sunday, Indiana will meet No. 11 Cal State Northridge at 9:40 a.m. PT, and will finish the tournament with a game against Cal State San Bernardino at 2:20 p.m. PT.
Indiana is fresh off a successful trip to Ann Arbor, Mich. that included four double-digit victories over CWPA Western Division opponents. The Hoosiers defeated Washington & Jefferson, Chatham, Grove City, and Penn State Behrend to tie Michigan at 4-0 atop the division standings.
Heading into the weekend, sophomore Amy Moore leads the Hoosiers in scoring with 22 goals on the season. Sophomore Lauren Wyckoff, coming off an 11 goal weekend in Ann Arbor, is second on the team with 16 total goals.
At goalkeeper, junior Katie Carson and freshman Cassie Wyckoff have split time throughout the season. Both have played well of late, as the Hoosiers allowed only five goals last weekend in CWPA play. While the goalies played a key role, much of that credit also goes to the Indiana team defense.
Defensively, Indiana's pressure was consistently too much to handle for their four opponents in Ann Arbor. The Hoosiers allowed less than 20 shots per game in each of their four wins over the weekend. Moore also leads the way defensively, racking up a team-high 24 steals. Sophomore Nicole Redder and freshman Jakie Köhli have each tallied 22 steals to help bolster the Hoosiers' stingy defense.
