Hoosiers Earn Automatic Berth and First Round Bye in WNIT

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's basketball team will face the winner of the Dayton-Oakland game after receiving an automatic berth in the second round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). The game will be played in Bloomington on Sunday, March 22 with a game time to be announced.
The Hoosiers enter the WNIT with a 19-10 overall record and a 6-5 mark in the postseason event with five appearances all-time. Last season, Indiana fell in the second round to James Madison, 86-81, in Bloomington on March 22. The Hoosiers earned a bye in the first round.
Indiana leads the all-time series with Dayton, 6-3, despite falling in its last meeting with the Flyers, 67-59, on Dec. 5, 2007. IU has never faced Oakland.
Indiana was one of 16 teams that earned a first round bye. The WNIT awards an automatic berth to each of the nation's 31 conferences.
