Hoosiers Hit the Road for Four Game Slate

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 19 Indiana women's water polo team will travel to Pennsylvania on April 3-5 to compete in four games, including their final two CWPA Western Division regular season contests of the 2009 campaign.
The Hoosiers (13-14, 4-1 CWPA West) will begin play on Friday, in Erie, Pa., with divisional games against Gannon at 7:30 p.m. ET and Mercyhurst on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. ET. Indiana will then travel to Lewisburg, Pa. for a 7:30 p.m. meeting with George Washington. The Hoosiers will finish the road trip on Sunday against Bucknell at 11:00 a.m. ET.

Indiana finished with a 1-2 record at the Fluid Four last weekend, defeating Sonoma State 13-4, and losing close battles with No. 13 Michigan, 7-6, and No. 20 Maryland, 11-9.
RED HOT WEEKEND
Sophomore Nicole Redder was a force offensively at the Fluid Four, tallying a team-high seven goals over the three game stretch. She found the back of the cage three times and snagged a steal against Sonoma State. She capped off her weekend with a career high tying four goals against Maryland, to go along with two assists and one earned exclusion.
On the season, Redder has 19 goals, 15 assists, and 12 earned kick-outs. She is also second on the team with 44 takeaways.
ROOKIE REPEAT
Freshman Jakie Köhli earned her second consecutive CWPA Western Division Rookie of the Week honor for her play at the Fluid Four. A consistent performer on the defensive end, Köhli racked up 10 steals over the weekend, giving her a team-leading 49 for the season. Against Sonoma State, Köhli tallied career-highs of four assists and four steals. She also scored one goal in each contest for the Hoosiers.
KICK-OUT TANDEM
Sophomore Lauren Wyckoff and senior Maggie Hannon have been the key to the Hoosiers getting into power play situations. Wyckoff leads the team with 33 kick-outs drawn, while Hannon is second with 30 of her own. At the Fluid Four, the pair combined for 15 of Indiana's 34 kick-outs drawn.
A key for the Hoosiers will be their ability to convert on their six-on-five opportunities down the stretch this season.

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE OPPONENTS
Gannon
Gannon comes into the weekend riding a five game winning streak, and hold a 9-5 overall record, including a 4-1 mark in the CWPA Western Division. Junior Annie Greenhill leads the attack for the Lady Knights, scoring 35 goals and collecting 34 steals on the season. Freshman Libbie Guina holds down the cage for Gannon, recording 53 saves through 12 games.
Indiana has dominated the all-time series with Gannon, winning all 12 meetings between the schools. The Hoosiers were victorious last season 17-5.
Mercyhurst
The Lakers have a 5-13 overall record in their 2009 season, but have gotten off to a solid 4-1 start in the CWPA Western Division. Mercyhurst has won their last four games heading into this weekend. Sophomore Rachel Griepsma carries the Laker offense, scoring a team-high 34 goals this season. Freshman goalkeeper Hope Rozelle has amassed a total of 132 blocks, while allowing 109 goals.
Indiana has won all nine games against Mercyhurst, including a 15-3 win last season at the Western Championships.
George Washington
The Colonials have a 5-18 overall record this season, as well as a 0-5 mark in the CWPA Southern Division. They have lost their last three contests, including a 10-6 loss to No. 20 Maryland on April 1. George Washington is led in scoring by freshman Allison Peotter with 40 goals and junior Marissa Stamler with 38. Sophomore Charlotte Schuou handles the primary duties in the cage for the Colonials, tallying 230 blocks this season in 81 quarters played.
The Hoosiers have a 7-0 all-time record against George Washington. The last meeting was in 2007, where Indiana prevailed 14-6.
Bucknell
The Bison head into their final weekend of regular season play with a 15-11 record and a 2-1 start in the CWPA Southern Division. Bucknell is on a five game winning streak, including a 9-7 victory against Princeton on March 28. Junior Valentina Rozas is the top scorer for the Bison with 61 goals this season. Sophomore Kandis Canonica has 47 scores, to go along with a team-high 49 assists. Junior Alison Carter gets a majority of the time at goalkeeper, collecting 112 saves on the year.
Indiana has a narrow 3-2 edge in the all-time series versus Bucknell, with the Bison winning the last two contests, including an 11-10 battle in 2008.
