COACH WALLMAN'S THOUGHTS
On his expectations at Big Tens:
"My expectations are to continue what we did at Ohio State (last weekend). That would be very disciplined play, hitting fairways and greens. If we hit it into a rough patch, just get it out, try to minimize damage and move on."
On what kind of play he expects from his six players that will compete:
"Anita is really peaking right now; Laura is playing very solidly, and Kellye put up two great rounds (at Ohio State). I think Cecilia (Orevik) is right on the cusp of really breaking through. Lauren Giesecke showed improvement at Ohio State, and Amber Lindgren has played Kampen a lot as a junior and has extensive experience on the golf course.
"I really think that we are in a good position to make a good run at this tournament. This type of golf course fits our style of play better than it does some of the other teams. We tend to hit a lot of greens, we are a very high ball-striking team."
On Purdue's Kampen Course:
"It is a Pete Dye golf course ... a very patient golf course. You have lots of hazards. It is very penal and it can really eat you up if you try to get back. It is a golf course that you have to hit high, soft irons into. It is a type of golf course that rewards a higher trajectory type of play."
On what the team needs to do to secure a spot at the NCAA Regionals (May 7-9):
"We are kind of on the bubble right now. I think our performance at the Lady Buckeye helped our cause. We came out of it 10-4 with a win against a top-15 team, so that really helps. I think if we have a similar performance at Kampen, I think we will be in pretty good shape."
