LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Indiana split a pair of games in the Midwest Spring League over the weekend. The Hoosiers took out the Ohio Bobcats 3-0, and fell to the Louisville Cardinals by a 2-1 score for the second straight weekend. Freshman Morgan Fleetwood and junior Alina Valenti each had two goals on the weekend.
Against Ohio, Valenti put the ball in the cage twice to lead the Hoosiers. Fleetwood got her second goal of the spring as well. Indiana keeper Alex Mann held the Bobcats scoreless in the contest.
The Cardinals were able to put up two goals on Mann, while the Hoosiers netted one. Fleetwood was able to put a ball through on a penalty corner to put the Hoosiers on the board. Fleetwood and Valenti each have three goals this spring and have accounted for all six of Indiana’s scores.
IU is now 1-3 in Midwest Spring League play. The Hoosiers return to action on Saturday, April 18, when they head to Columbus, Ohio for three league games, against Miami (OH), Michigan State and Ball State. For complete coverage of IU field hockey, stay tuned to IUHoosiers.com.
