Women's Golf Holds Postseason Banquet

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The 2008-09 season officially came to a close for the Indiana women's golf team as the squad held its annual teams awards dinner Thursday night at Coaches Bar and Grill in Bloomington.
Head coach Clint Wallman and assistant coach Katie Brophy honored the nine-person team which wrapped up the year with a sixth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships last weekend.
Freshmen Emily Habbel, Sara Poppas and sophomore transfer Cecilia Orevik received jackets and first-year letterwinners, while sophomore Lauren Giesecke earned her second varsity letter. Juniors Kellye Belcher, Anita Gahir and Laura Nochta, as well as senior Amber Lindgren were also given lettermen's awards.
Orevik was honored with the Coaches Award, as well as the Most Improved Player. Lindgren earned the Hoosier Heart award for the third-straight season, with Nochta being named the Cream and Crimson Cup winner, as well as the Hoosier of the Year. Wallman also announced that Nochta will serve as team captain for the 2009-10 season.
