Weather-Delayed First Round Finally Complete at NCAA Regional

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The #11 Indiana University men's golf team shot a 10-over 294 on Thursday at the NCAA Regional down in Florida. After Day One, the Hoosiers sit in 14th place with 36 holes to be played. The top-five squads advance to the NCAA Championships.

David Erdy and Alex Martin were Indiana's top performers in the opening round with identical scores of 73 (+2). The two Hoosiers concluded with the same tally, but each took complete opposite routes to get there. Erdy shot even-par on the front nine and two-over on the back while Martin reversed that performance with a 37 (+2) on the front and 36 (E) on the back nine.
Jorge Campillo and Chase Wright were the other two Hoosiers to contribute a score to the team total, each carding rounds of 74 (+3). Campillo was in the individual top-10 at three-under par through 16 holes before completing his round with a tough three-hole stretch that included a quadruple bogey. Meanwhile, Wright also flashed moments of brilliance during his round, recording a team-high six birdies on the day.
Seth Brandon competed for the Cream and Crimson on Thursday as well, taking 77 strokes in his first round.
