BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana senior golfer Drew Allenspach is a member of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team, announced the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). As a first-teamer, Allenspach is now eligible for Academic All-America status, a recognition he earned a year ago following his junior year.
Allenspach garnered First Team Academic All-District honors in 2007 as well. The Accounting/Finance major owns a perfect 4.0 GPA while being involved in numerous extracurricular activities. In addition, he was chosen as the student-athlete representative for the athletic director search committee.
On the course, Allenspach has racked up 23 career top-25 finishes, including a second-place showing at the '06 Boilermaker Invitational. The Sugarland, Texas native is a four-year starter with a career scoring average of 75.11 in 134 rounds, the 15th-best average in school history. He is also the owner of the second-best freshman scoring average all-time at IU. The former Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner guided the Hoosiers to the NCAA Championships in 2008 as the Cream and Crimson finished 21st at the national tournament.
