BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana football team will face Western Michigan at noon and Akron at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 and Sept. 19, respectively. IU will take on WMU at Memorial Stadium and the Big Ten Network will carry the game. The Hoosiers will travel to Akron, Ohio, to face the Zips and ESPNU will broadcast that contest.
Indiana will face Western Michigan for the third time in four seasons. The Hoosiers own a 4-0 advantage in the all-time series against the Broncos, including victories in 2006 and 2007, and a 3-0 mark at The Rock.
IU opens its six-game road slate at Akron. Indiana defeated the Zips, 41-24, in the only meeting between the two programs on Sept. 15, 2007, in Bloomington.
The Hoosiers kick off the 2009 campaign with their first-ever meeting against Eastern Kentucky at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3. It marks the first Thursday game in Memorial Stadium's history.
