Burneski Wins WSGA Women's Amateur

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Incoming Indiana University women's golf freshman Pamela Burneski recorded a three-stroke victory over Leslie Folsom and Cathy Kim to take the Washington State Golf Association Amateur Championship being held at the Oakbrook Golf and Country Club in Lakewood, Wash.
Burneski recorded a 7-over 79 on Thursday and finished with a three-round score of 228. Entering the final hole, Burneski held a one-shot lead over Cathy Kim.
Burneski opened play with a 2-over 74 on Tuesday and was tied for second after round one. She moved into the lead at the end of day two with a 3-over 75, giving her a score of 149 over 36 holes.
Earlier this year, Burneski teamed with Sue Kim to win the Washington State Golf Association Women's Best Ball Championship at Bellingham Golf and Country Club. Burneski and Kim recorded two rounds of 70 for the victory at the May 11-12 tournament. A native of Surrey, British Columbia, Burneski will join the IU program this fall.
