BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - IU Volleyball hosted their second annual preseason team BBQ recently, bringing together the team, coaches, support staff and student-athletes' family members for some good food, good times and to kick-start the 2009 campaign of Hoosier Volleyball.
Inside the Virgil T. DeVault Alumni Center, Head Coach Sherry Dunbar began the evening by addressing the group assembled and speaking about her expectations for the 2009 season. Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass also hit the podium and spoke to the group.
Following a delicious meal highlighted with BBQ chicken and pulled pork, each student-athlete came forward and introduced their family members in attendance. Nearly every parent was able to make the trip, including extremely long hauls from the Hindman's (Texas) and Granado's (California).
Indiana began official team practice the very next morning with the first of several two-a-days scheduled during the preseason. The Cream and Crimson are set to hop on a plane in less than two weeks en route to Texas for the season-opening tournament at the University of Houston. IU's first match is on Friday, Aug. 28 at 6:30 p.m. EST versus Southeastern Louisiana. That contest, along with every other Hoosier volleyball match this season, can be heard broadcasted live on IUHoosiers.com.
