Indiana-UCSB Match To Be Televised on Fox Soccer Channel

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's soccer team's Oct. 2 road matchup against UC Santa Barbara will be broadcast live as part of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America College Game of the Week package on Fox Soccer Channel, the network announced Thursday.
The Hoosiers and Gauchos will square off at 11 p.m. in the fifth meeting between the two teams. UCSB won last year's match in Bloomington, 2-1, while Indiana's last win came in the 2004 NCAA title game. The all-time series is tied at 2-2.
Under an ongoing agreement with the NSCAA, Fox Soccer Channel's live and exclusive NSCAA College Game of the Week telecasts will include eight women's and 12 men's matches. All but one of the women's matches will be featured on Sunday afternoon, while 11 of the 12 men's matches will be played on Friday nights.
The match will mark IU's third-ever appearance on the network. The Hoosiers dropped a 2-1 decision to Penn State in Bloomington on Sept. 30, 2005, and again fell to the Nittany Lions by a 1-0 score on the road on Oct. 20, 2006.
In all, a minimum of five Indiana men's soccer matches will be broadcast on national television in 2009. In addition to the Fox Soccer Channel broadcast, the Hoosiers' matches against Wake Forest (Sept. 6- 2 p.m. ET), at Michigan (Oct. 10- 3:30 p.m. ET), Michigan State (Oct. 18- 2 p.m. ET) and at Northwestern (Oct. 25- 4 p.m. ET) will be televised live on the Big Ten Network.
Indiana owns an all-time record of 20-7-5 in televised matches.
