Celebrating 125 Years: Top Games in IU FB History

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - In celebration of the 125th year of football at Indiana University, IUHoosiers.com will give Hoosier fans the opportunity to vote for the top 12 games in IU history. Each week during the regular season a game will be revealed, culminating in the No. 1 game in Hoosier lore the week of the Old Oaken Bucket Game.
A panel consisting of former Hoosier players and current football directors of operations Mark Deal and Harold Mauro, former Indiana radio analyst Max Skirvin, current "Voice of the Hoosiers" Don Fischer, current IU pre-game, post-game and halftime voice Joe Smith, Herald-Times reporter Lynn Houser, long-time Hoosier sports information director and current IU assistant athletic director Kit Klingelhoffer and long-time Herald-Times sports editor Bob Hammel deliberated and came up with a list of the top 33 all-time games.
Over the past two weeks, IUHoosiers.com revealed all 33 games. Fans now have the opportunity to vote for their choices by emailing their top 12 to football@indiana.edu.
Here are the final nine games on the list:
Indiana 34 South Carolina 10
Dec. 28, 1988
Memphis, Tenn.
Indiana caps an 8-3-1 season with a 34-10 trouncing over South Carolina in the Liberty Bowl. The Hoosiers finish the season ranked 20th in the country.

Nov. 11, 1989
Madison, Wis.
Anthony Thompson rushes for an NCAA record 377 yards on 52 carries.
Indiana 24 Baylor 0
Dec. 31, 1991
Tucson, Ariz.
The Hoosiers win their second bowl in four years with a 24-0 whitewashing of Baylor.

West Lafayette, Ind.
Head coach Bill Mallory goes out a winner with a dominant Bucket win in West Lafayette. Mallory is IU's all-time winningest coach with 69 wins from 1984-96.

Antwaan Randle El leads a fourth quarter comeback and guides the Hoosiers to victory in IU's first overtime game in program history.

Antwaan Randle El becomes the only player in Big Ten history to rush for 200 yards and pass for 200 yards in a single game.

Madison, Wis.
Levron Williams gains 280 yards on 20 carries and scores a school-record six touchdowns as Indiana rolls in Madison.

Will Meyers halts Iowa's final drive with an acrobatic interception in the final minutes to preserve the victory. James Hardy caught three TD's as Terry Hoeppner's Hoosiers knocked off the 13th-ranked Hawkeyes.
