Coons Wins Massachusetts Junior Championship

Katie Coons won the Women's Golf Association of Massachusetts Junior Championship this past weekend.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Incoming Indiana University women's golf freshman Katie Coons capped her junior golf career by winning the Women's Golf Association of Massachusetts Junior Championship this past weekend.

Coons carded a two-day total of 144 at Indiana Pond Country Club in Kingston, Mass. She took home the title by four strokes over Isabel Southard.

The incoming freshman opened play with a 71 and closed out the tournament with a 73. She held a one-stroke lead over Southard with four holes to play. Coons is one of four freshman that will join the IU women's golf program at the end of this month.
