No. 17 Indiana Faces Miami, Ohio State This Weekend

The 17th-ranked Hoosiers travel to Oxford, Ohio on Friday, Sept. 25 to face Miami at 5 p.m. ET, and will open the Big Ten season at Ohio State on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. in Columbus.
HOOSIERS VS. WEEKEND'S OPPONENT
The Hoosiers lead the all-time series, 6-3, despite falling in the two teams' last meeting, 3-2, last season.
Miami enters Friday's contest with a 4-4 mark and a three-game win streak. The Redhawks defeated Ball State, 7-1, on Sept. 16, William and Mary, 2-1, in overtime on Sept. 19, and Richmond, 5-1, on Sept. 20, after starting the season losing four out of five.
Miami is led by May Hull, who owns six goals on 14 shots and two assists for 14 points on the season.
Ohio State leads the all-time series with IU, 6-5, after winning last year's meeting 5-0. The Buckeyes are 6-3 after winning five straight. OSU defeated Ohio, 3-0, on Sept. 11, Kent State, 5-2, on Sept. 16, Vermont, 3-0, on Sept. 18, Central Michigan, 1-0, on Sept. 20 and Ball State, 5-0, on Sept. 22.
The Buckeyes are led by Berta Querait with eight goals on 30 shots and nine assists for 25 points on the season.
Last year, Ohio State finished third in the Big Ten.
HOOSIERS IN THE POLL
For a second straight week, the Indiana field hockey team is ranked No. 17 in the Kookaburra/NFHCA poll. The Hoosiers picked up 234 points after defeating Ball State, 2-1, on Saturday, Sept. 19.
This week marked the third straight week with the Hoosiers in the top 20 after entering the poll the week of Sept. 10 at No. 18. IU moved up to No. 17 last week.
HOOSIERS KNOCK OFF BALL STATE, 2-1
With the game knotted 1-1, sophomore Corey Brautigam scored the game-winner with three minutes to play to give the No. 17 Indiana field hockey team a 2-1 win over Ball State in the Hoosiers' home-opener. Freshman Brooke Borneman scored the Hoosiers' first goal in the first half.
Indiana came out aggressively in the first half with a corner three minutes into the game. At the 4:42 mark, junior Kelsey Kiper drove the ball from the middle and shot it down the left side of the goal to Borneman who got it in the goal behind Ball State's goalie to give IU a 1-0 lead. Both teams battled each other on shots for the remainder of the first half. The Cardinals tied the score at 1-1 at the 43:02 mark as Brooke MacGillivary scored in front of IU's Alex Mann in goal. The score remained tied until the 67:10 mark when senior Meg O'Connell got the ball off of a rebound from a shot taken by redshirt freshman Morgan Fleetwood to send it to the right side of the goal for Brautigam to score the game-winner, 2-1.
Borneman took four shots on the game, while Brautigam took two. Redshirt sophomore Brenna Moeljadi and Fleetwood each took a team-high six shots, and Kiper and O'Connell each tallied an assist. Freshman Julia Raymakers recorded a defensive save at the 35:52 mark. Mann played in goal for the Hoosiers and tallied one save in 70:00 minutes. The Hoosiers outshot the Cardinals 25-9 and recorded 12 corners to BSU's three.
