No. 17 Indiana Loses Heartbreaker at Ohio State, 3-2

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 17 Indiana field hockey team lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at Ohio State in the Hoosiers' (5-4, 0-1) Big Ten opener on Sunday, Sept. 27, in Columbus.
The Hoosiers were down 2-0 and fought back in the second half with goals from junior Mutsa Mutembwa and redshirt freshman Morgan Fleetwood to knot the score at 2-2. However, OSU's Berta Queralt scored with just seven seconds left in the game to give the Buckeyes (7-3, 1-0) a 3-2 win.
Mutembwa scored her goal at the 60:11 mark in the second half on assists from juniors Kelsey Kiper and Katie Griswold on a penalty corner to cut Ohio State's lead in half, 2-1. A little more than five minutes later, Fleetwood tied the score with her goal at the 65:37 mark with help again from Kiper and Griswold on another penalty corner.
Fleetwood took three shots, two of which were on goal. Mutembwa took one shot on goal. Her goal was the first of her career at IU. Senior Meg O'Connell also took three shots, Kiper and Griswold each tallied two assists. Junior Alex Mann started in goal and tallied five saves in 70:00 minutes.
The Hoosiers return to action on Friday, Oct. 2, when they take on Iowa in Iowa City at 5 p.m. ET.
