Hoosiers Fall at No. 9 Michigan State, 2-0

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Indiana field hockey team fell at No. 9 Michigan State, 2-0, on the road on Saturday, Oct. 23.
In the first half, the Spartans (12-4, 2-3) dominated on offense, outshooting the Hoosiers (9-6, 1-4), 11-1. Redshirt sophomore Morgan Fleetwood tallied IU's lone shot. However, junior Becky Pany held strong in the cage with six saves.
Michigan State took a 1-0 lead 29 seconds into the second half. Indiana added more offensive pressure in the second half, earning three corners and taking three more shots, but in the 65th minute the Spartans scored another goal to increase their advantage to 2-0.
Fleetwood led IU with two shots, one on goal. Redshirt junior Brenna Moeljadi also recorded one shot. Pany played all 70 minutes in goal and recorded seven saves.
The Spartans outshot the Hoosiers, 16-3, and earned eight corners to IU's three.
Indiana returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 24, when it visits Ball State at 1 p.m. ET.
