• It is the most goals by Indiana in an NCAA Tournament game since a 5-0 win over VCU in 2003. Indiana has scored five or more goals nine times in NCAA Tournament play.
• "Tulsa is a very good team," said head coach Todd Yeagley. "We had a very good midfield and back line performance tonight. A lot of players of the game tonight, but certainly (Cameron Jordan and Will Bruin) were two of the best on both sides of the field.
• "(Tulsa) is a very aggressive attacking team and we knew that going into the game. They send a lot of players forward. With that lead we wanted to try and get a third(goal), which we did. And from there we had to make sure we were smart and stay disciplined."
• "We had a really good week of practice," Bruin said. "We got after it every day. Everyone was mentally clicked in and everyone had a great game. That is how you want to be playing come tournament time."
• "We were very organized," Jordan said. "With me and (Jacob) Bushue in there we were communication well and guys were stepping up early."
• Indiana came out of the gates firing, putting up seven shots in the first 14 minutes. IU nearly had its first goal of the game with a three-shot flurry in the ninth minute as a shot from junior Alec Purdie was saved by Tulsa goalkeeper Ray Clark. Junior Will Bruin got off a shot on the rebound from Clark's save, resulting in a another stop for the goalkeeper. The ball bounced out to Bruin again, who was denied a goal when a Tulsa defender cleared the ball off the line.
• The Hoosiers were finally rewarded for their offensive pressure as senior midfielder Andy Adlard gave Indiana the 1-0 lead in the 41st minute with his sixth goal of the year. Freshman Nikita Kotlov set up the play, dragging the ball down to the goal line before laying off a centering pass to Adlard, who made a run up the middle and took his shot from the penalty spot.
• Four minutes later it was Kotlov who was the goal scorer, putting in what would be the game-winning goal, the first of his career. Bruin set up the play with a shot that bounced back out to Kotlov, who slotted the ball around Clark for the score. Indiana went into the halftime break with a 15-4 shot advantage, with 12 of those shots on frame.
• Freshman Harrison Petts gave Indiana a three-goal advantage in the 52nd minute with his third scoring strike of the year. Bruin recorded his second assist of the match, playing the ball off the right side to Petts who took his shot around Clark from eight yards out.
• Tulsa struck back quickly for its only goal of the match as Ashley McInnes sent in a chip over Indiana goalkeeper Luis Soffner to cut the Hoosiers' lead to two. That woke up the Golden Hurricane attack as Indiana withstood a 10-minute period of offensive pressure but managed to keep the ball out of the net.
• After setting up two early goals, it was Bruin's turn to get in on the scoring action with his 17th and 18th goals of the season providing the final 5-1 scoreline. Number 17 came on an assist from sophomore Joe Tolen, who played the ball over to Bruin on the right resulting in a shot from 12 yards out at 72:11. The two hooked up again in the 79th minute as Tolen knocked the ball down to Bruin, who tapped in a slow roller. Tolen has assisted on five Bruin goals this year, all coming in the last six matches.
• Despite 10 shots from the Golden Hurricane in the second half, Indiana finished with a commanding 25-14 shot advantage, with 20 of those 25 shots on goal. Bruin had a season-high 12 shots, 10 of which were on goal, while Petts added five and Adlard three.
