IU Advances to 2010 NCAA Championships, Hosting First Two Rounds

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Volleyball has advanced to the NCAA Tournament, and will host first and second round matches on Dec. 3-4 inside University Gym. Indiana (21-11) drew the Miami Hurricanes (23-8) in the first round, a match scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Friday night inside University Gym.
"I'm so proud of our players,, coaches, staff, the program, everyone involved," said Head Coach Sherry Dunbar. "Not only do we have the opportunity to play in the NCAA Tournament, but are acting as a host school. It's an exciting time for Indiana Volleyball right now. University Gym is going to be a rocking place Friday night."

5 p.m.- No. 11-seed Tennessee (24-6) vs. Alabama A&M (16-10)
7 p.m.- Indiana (21-11) vs. Miami (FL) (23-8)
SECOND ROUND • SATURDAY, DEC. 4
3 p.m.- Tennessee/Alabama A&M vs. Indiana/Miami

INDIANA VOLLEYBALL NCAA TOURNAMENT NOTES & NUGGETS
- Indiana has now qualified for the NCAA Championships five times (1995, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2010)
- Indiana is 2-4 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the second round in both 1998 and 1999
- 2010 is the first time IU has ever hosted a match in the NCAA Tournament
- Three of the four teams coming to Bloomington finished with RPIs in the top 35 with Tennessee at 14 being the best, followed by Miami (18) and IU (34) ... Alabama A&M came in at No. 191
- Indiana's regular season winning percentage of .656 this season is the program's best since 1999 when IU posted a 20-9 mark during the regular season
- The Big Ten led all conferences with eight teams earning bids to the tournament
- Indiana's name did not appear until the very last bracket was shown on the ESPNews selection show, certainly building up as much suspense as possible
