BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Former Indiana University standout and two-time second-team All-Big Ten honoree Laura Nochta competed at the LPGA Futures Tour 2011 Qualifying Tournament Nov. 2-5 in Florida.
Nochta finished tied for 63rd with scores of 69-71-76-83 for a four-round total of 299 (+11). A starting field of 308 players from 38 nations competed in Central Florida last week on three courses for 2011 LPGA Futures Tour playing status. The 72-hole tournament was staged at Winter Haven's Lake Region Yacht & Country Club, Ridgewood Lakes Golf & Country Club in Davenport, Fla., and Lake Wales Country Club in Lake Wales, Fla. The final round was played only at Lake Region.
"This has been Laura's dream and I am very happy for her," said Indiana University head golf coach Clint Wallman. "She has worked hard and is very deserving. I think she will be a tremendous touring professional with a great career. We wish her and her family the best and look forward to following her career for years to come."
Exempt and non-exempt status for the 2011 LPGA Futures Tour will be determined following the completion of the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament in December at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
