Elizabeth Tong To Join IU Golf Program in 2011

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University head women's golf coach Clint Wallman announced today that Elizabeth Tong of Thornhill, Ontario, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her golf career with the Hoosiers beginning in the fall of 2011.
In 2010 alone, Tong won three tournaments including the AJGA CorseMax Philadelphia Qualifier at Penn Oaks, the Toronto District Colleges Athletic Association Golf Tournament and the Sydney Mulqueen Tournament at Mississauga where she shot her best round of the year of 70. She won her first tournament in 2006 and totals 15 first-place tournament finishes all-time. Tong has a Royal Canadian Golf Association Handicap Factor of 0.0 and will play her second season for the York District Amateur Team in 2011. Tong was also a member of the Golf Association of Ontario (GAO) Under 19 Team Ontario Program of Excellence in 2010.
"I am very excited that Elizabeth is coming to IU," Wallman said. "She is a rising junior in Canada making Team Ontario and I expect her to have a wonderful collegiate career at Indiana."
In 2007, Tong finished in a first-place tie at the GAO Clublink Bantam Tour, finishing either first our second in each of the four tour events that took place in the months of July and August.
In the classroom, Tong has ranked in the top three students academically throughout her high school career. She has consistently been on the Principle's Honor Roll with Distinction every year since the seventh grade and has received awards in French, English, marketing and science.
