BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Senior middle blocker Ashley Benson was one of 14 players selected to the All-Mideast Region team on Tuesday (Nov. 7), announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Sophomore outside hitter Jordan Haverly was also recognized by the AVCA, earning Midwest Region honorable mention.

With her all-region selection, Benson is now also available for All-America consideration.
Benson was tabbed all-region last year as well, and was an honorable mention choice in 2008. The Big Ten's dominance is evident when looking at the make-up of the All-Mideast squad. In addition to 13 of 14 team members coming from the conference, each of the six honorable mention winners also play for Big Ten institutions.
Last week, Benson and Haverly snagged the same honors for the Big Ten Conference. It marked Benson's third career all-conference honor and second straight unanimous selection. She has put together one of the most dominant seasons in the league both offensively and defensively. Benson ranks in the top-10 nationally for both hitting efficiency and blocks per set. Here name can be found all over the Big Ten's statistical leaderboards:
2nd with a .413 hitting efficiency (10th nationally)
3rd with 1.38 blocks per set (9th nationally)
3rd with 4.46 points per set
7th with 3.51 kills per set
Haverly is amongst the conference's best as well. Her 4.12 points per set and 33 aces each slotted her fifth-best in the Big Ten at the conclusion of the regular season. In total, the Cherry Valley, Ill., native has racked up 454 kills, 258 digs and 62 blocks on the year.
The Hoosiers season is still going strong, however, as the team is headed to the NCAA Regionals for the first time in program history. Below is the competition schedule expected for the upcoming weekend in Dayton, Ohio.
