BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) has selected Indiana sophomore Jordan Haverly as the CVU.com National Player of the Week for Nov. 29 through Dec. 5.
A 6-1 outside hitter from Cherry Valley, Ill., Haverly led the Hoosiers offensively as IU picked up a pair of NCAA tournament victories and earned their first-ever trip to the 'Sweet 16' Regional Semifinals.
The first match for Indiana was a five-set battle with Miami in which Haverly was second on the team in both kills and digs. The sophomore provided 21 terminations, 17 digs and two blocks as the Hoosiers rallied from a 2-sets-to-1 deficit for the victory.
Indiana's second-round match-up with Tennessee wasn't lacking in excitement either, as once again the team rebounded from a 2-1 hole for a five-set victory. In the historic win, Haverly hammered 30 kills on .333 hitting and also provided plenty of defense with 14 digs and five blocks.
For the weekend, the outside averaged 5.1 kills and 3.1 digs per set while hitting .289. She also had seven total blocks.
Haverly is the second player from Indiana to earn the CVU.com weekly honor this season as Ashley Benson picked up the award on Oct. 26.
