BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Wanna know more about the newest member of IU Volleyball family, Kelsey Cronin? Read on...
How did you get started in the sport of volleyball?
"I was actually the first in my family to play volleyball. In fifth grade I made the all-star team and knew from that point that it was meant to be! Ever since my elementary years I've been hooked."
What about the IU Volleyball program made you interested in applying for the Director of Operations job?
"I was drawn to the position once it became available nationally and having known that these types of positions are few and far between made it even more enticing. I was intrigued by the position the more I learned about the staff, team and University itself finally leading up to the interview process."
What is your favorite professional sports team and why?
"'Who Dey. Who Dey, Who Dey think gonna beat them Bengals?' I will forever support the Cincinnati Bengals, through good times and bad! Cincinnati is notoriously known for their crazy fans and seemingly unfaltering crowd of dedicated supporters, so it wasn't hard for me to follow suit on this one. Plus my dad loves the Bengals and I am a daddy's girl. This is a sore topic though because my mom's side of the family loves the Steelers, which is unfortunate."
Favorite place to eat in Bloomington?
"So far my favorite is Upland because of the atmosphere and laid back nature of the restaurant. There are so many amazing places to eat in Bloomington though I'm sure I'll have many favorites once I get around to them all."
What is your fondest memory from playing volleyball at Morehead State?
"Well I would have to change this question to say 'MEMORIES' because I can't choose one. The highlights would definitely have to be winning the conference back-to-back years and the amazing staff I was able to play and work for. Coach Jaime Gordon will always be one of my biggest role models and I learned so much about the game and life in general from him. And last but not least the friends I made while I was there, I love you all!"
What's something people might be surprised to know about you?
"(Laughing) Lots of things. I would say the fact that I am horrible at geography, don't ever ask me for directions."
Which celebrity do people say you look like?
"When I was little people told me Julia Roberts, but as I've grown older and prettier people say Shrek."
Favorite part of the Bloomington campus?
"I love the square downtown. It's centrally located to everything and you can see the campus and the city all at the same time."
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
"Ireland. My roots lead me there."
What's a Hoosier anyways?
"I Googled it and this is what I got, 'somebody who comes from the state of Indiana.' When I look at the IU symbol I see a fierce blade. I didn't know those two correspond, but needless to say, Hoosiers know how to put up a good fight!"
