BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -
Sophomore Jakie Köhli has been named the February 8 Western Division Co-Player of the Week, announced by the CWPA on Tuesday. Köhli earned the award after leading the No. 16 Indiana Hoosiers (3-4, 0-0 CWPA West) to a 2-2 mark at the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, Calif. on Feb. 6-7, registering 16 goals, three assists, and eight steals.
Köhli's weekend included a single game school record-tying six goal performance in the Hoosiers' 15-6 win against Sonoma State with all six goals coming in the first half of action. That feat came a day after she set a then career-high with five goals in a 10-9 loss to No. 17 Cal Baptist. Against CBU, she also recorded four steals and an assist.
The Hoosiers also defeated Marist 8-6 and lost in overtime, 10-9, to No. 14 UC Santa Barbara. Köhli notched three goals, two steals, one assist, and three earned kick-outs in the loss to UCSB. In the final game of the weekend against Marist, she finished with two goals, two steals, and two earned kick-outs.
Köhli has now scored at least one goal in 17 consecutive games played, dating back to March 22, 2009 against San Diego State at the Aztec Invitational.
She has attacked the cage consistently to start the season with 25 goals through seven games. She also has season totals of five assists, 15 steals, and seven earned kick-outs.
The award marks the first Player of the Week honor of Köhli's career, after collecting a pair of Rookie of the Week honors, as well as Western Division Rookie of the Year during her freshman season.
