ORLANDO, Fla. - The Indiana University women's tennis team finished up play Thursday in the Orlando Invitational, competing against Auburn and Oklahoma State. The Hoosiers spent their spring break playing multiple singles and doubles matches over the course of four days.
Playing in a tournament format with a unique scoring system devised by the three head coaches, each team had a winner based on the number of games won in singles and doubles during the four days of competition. The winners for each team were: Myriam Sopel (IU), Sasha Belova (OSU) and Fani Chifchieva (Auburn).
"This is exactly what we needed," said Head Coach Lin Loring. "We played outdoors for the first time this season against some very good players. Every player on our team saw many different opponents and different playing styles. Each day we got a little better playing outdoors. We should be ready for the remainder of our conference schedule when we return home."
