IU Field Hockey Recognized by NFHCA for Academic Success

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey team was recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association as one of 58 programs to record a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The Hoosiers, who were one of four Big Ten teams honored, also boasted 13 players on the 2009 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad.
The Hoosiers' 13 honorees were second most among the Big Ten, with Michigan State leading the conference with 14 players recognized. IU's list includes freshmen Hannah Boyer and Shareyna Chang, redshirt freshman Morgan Fleetwood, sophomore Corey Brautigam and Jaclyn Milici, juniors Katie Griswold, Lena Grote and Kelsey Kiper, and seniors Haley Funk, Brittney Hacken, Lucy Ireland, Mutsa Mutembwa and Meg O'Connell.
Indiana opens the spring season on Saturday, March 27, at the IU Hockey Field with a 1 p.m. ET scrimmage against Louisville.
