EVANSTON, Ill. - The Hoosiers took their first Big Ten win of the season, defeating No. 45 Northwestern 6-1 on Sunday. Indiana lost only one singles match on the day and went undefeated in three doubles matches. Senior Lachlan Ferguson led the way picking up a win over No. 115 Joshua Graves at number one singles.
Ferguson defeated Graves by a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) final tally. He also joined forces with freshman Josh MacTaggart for an 8-7 (7-5) win at number one doubles.
Indiana got straight-set wins from Santiago Gruter (No. 4) and Will Kendall (No. 6). Freshman Isade Juneau showed great resilience at number five. After failing to take a game in the first set, Juneau won the second set 6-1 and took the third set in a tiebreaker.
Indiana men's tennis hits the courts again on April 2, when they travel to Purdue to battle for a Crimson and Gold Cup point. For complete coverage of IU men's tennis, stay tuned to IUHoosiers.com.
