BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Work on Billy Hayes Track continued this weekend, as workers have returned to Bloomington. Indiana Athletics is in the midst of renovations to the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex, and specifically Billy Hayes Track. The track will be replaced with a brand new Polytan surface. Once completed, the track will be the first of its kind in the western hemisphere and will be the same type of surface that has hosted multiple World Championship meets throughout Europe.
Throughout the renovations, IUHoosiers.com will be posting photographic updates to keep you updated on the progress. To see how the project is going, click here.
The track will be completed in time for the 2010 Big Ten Outdoor Championships, which will serve as the first major event to take place on the new and improved Billy Hayes Track. The facility also annually plays host to the IHSAA State Track and Field Championships.
