COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Indiana women's golf team battled through blustery course conditions at the OSU Golf Club Scarlet Course but finds itself in fifth place after 36 holes of the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio Saturday. The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Sunday.
Indiana posted scores of 330 and 311 for a two-round total of 641. The host Buckeyes are in the lead at 615, followed by Northwestern (624), Michigan State (631) and Iowa State (634) in the top five.
Coming off a career-best 69 in the final round of the IU Invitational last weekend, freshman Kate Coons leads the way for IU with a score of 158, good for a tie for 10th place. Coons shot an 83 in the first round but settled down for a team-best 75 in round two.
Senior Kellye Belcher is tied for 14th at +15 with a score of 159. Her first-round tally of 82 was followed by a 77 in the second 18. Tied for 16th is senior Laura Nochta with a score of 160. Nochta shot an 82 in the first round, with a 78 in round two.
Freshman Jacqueline Yanch is tied for the 34th spot after posting a score of 164. Yanch's score of 83 in round one was followed by an 81 in round two. Freshman Pamela Burneski is tied for 51st with score of 86 and 82 (168), and junior Lauren Giesecke is 71st with a score of 180 (94-86).
