IU Finishes Fourth at Boilermaker Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Indiana University men's golf team jumped three slots in the final round of the 2010 Boilermaker Invitational, settling in at fourth place. Four Hoosiers finished in the top-25 individually.
Indiana recorded a three-round total of 881, just one stroke shy of the top-three. Sophomore Chase Wright was IU's top performer with his seventh place finish. The Muncie, Ind., native shot 2-over for the weekend, taking 218 strokes (71-73-74).
Freshman Corey Ziedonis was also impressive up in West Lafayette. He fired a 4-under 68 in the third round, elevating himself into a tie for 11th place on the individual leaderboard. Ziedonis' 13 birdies for the tournament were the second-most by any player in the field.
Alex Martin and David Erdy also cracked the top-25. Martin posted back-to-back rounds of 73 to open the tournament before concluding with a third-round 77. His 223-stroke total gave him a share of 23rd place. Erdy (T25th) finished +8 (224) with subsequent rounds of 71, 77 and 76..
Freshman Brant Peaper contributed a 73 to the team score on Sunday. He was also one of eight golfers to tab an eagle in the tournament.
The postseason starts next weekend (Apr. 30-May 2) at the Big Ten Championship in Maple Plain, Minn., on the Windsong Farms Golf Course.
