BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's soccer team will wrap up its spring schedule with a match against the Under-20 Mexican Youth National Team Tuesday night at 7 p.m. on Jerry Yeagley Field at Armstrong Stadium.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-866-IUSPORTS or at the gate on gameday.
This will be the fifth meeting between the Hoosiers and the Mexican youths since the series began in 2005. Indiana fell 2-1 to the U-17 squad in the first meeting. In 2006, Indiana picked up its only win in the series with a blanking of the U-17 team by a 2-0 score. It was the U-20 squad taking a 2-0 victory over Indiana in 2007, and again by a 2-0 score in 2008.
On Friday night the Mexican squad fell 2-1 to Notre Dame in South Bend with the lone goal coming from Oscar Garcia. Meanwhile, Indiana is 1-0-3 on the spring season, opening play on March 28 with a 2-1 win over Louisville. That was followed by 1-1 ties with Cincinnati (April 9), IUPUI (April 14), and a 2-2 tie with Notre Dame in Ft. Wayne. The Hoosiers were scheduled to play 2009 College Cup runner-up Akron this past Saturday at Northern Kentucky University, but inclement weather forced the cancellation of the match.
In addition to the excitement of an international friendly in Bloomington, fans will be treated to performances by a mariachi band, a halftime performance by the Flocloric Dance Ballet. Special items will also be available for purchase at the concession stands. The weather forecast for Bloomington on Tuesday calls for partly cloudy skies with a high of 64 degrees.
For those who can't make it to Bloomington, the match will be streamed live on IUHoosiers.com (fee applies). Fans can also listen to the match via live stream at www.WIUX.org or over the radio at 99.1 FM.
