BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The 14th annual Indiana Soccer Coaches Symposium will take place this Friday and Saturday (April 9-10) in Bloomington. In addition, IU will take on Cincinnati in a spring match Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Admission to the game is free.
"We have a great weekend of soccer ahead with our match against Cincinnati along with hosting our annual coaches symposium," said head coach Todd Yeagley.
Joining forces with adidas, the symposium is designed to offer soccer coaches throughout the Midwest two days of professional development. The informative and stimulating coaching sessions give coaches an opportunity to grow with the game. Field sessions will address offensive and defensive principles, technical and tactical development and positional play.
"On Friday and Saturday, we will also be hosting more than 100 high school, club, and college coaches for our annual coaches symposium," Yeagley said. "The informative field sessions and insightful analysis by our guest clinicians provide for a great event that is enjoyed by all."
Yeagley and assistant coaches Brian Maisonneuve and Ernie Yarborough will share many of the training sessions and thoughts that go into their own team. Also taking part in the program this year are U.S. National Team coach Tim Mulqueen, University of Cincinnati head coach Hylton Dayes, and legendary Indiana soccer coach Jerry Yeagley.
As part of the symposium, the Hoosiers will take on Cincinnati at 7:30 p.m. in a spring match on Jerry Yeagley Field at Armstrong Stadium. Indiana is currently 1-0 in the spring after a 2-1 victory over Louisville on March 28. Sophomore Will Bruin and redshirt freshman Joe Tolen had the goals for Indiana, with Bruin also picking up the assist on Tolen's goal.
"Our match against Cincinnati will provide another tough test for our group as we look to continue to make positive strides this spring," Yeagley said. "We expect to see a spirited and well-played match on Friday night."
