WALLMAN'S THOUGHTS
On playing at home:
• "It is nice to have home course advantage. It is nice for the team to have a week where they sleep in their own beds and come to the golf team center and practice in their normal area. There will be a sense of routine to it. And I know they are excited about playing the course. And I think they are in a good place to play."
On this year's IU Invitational field:
• "We have a fairly diverse field. A little bit of Big Ten flavor with Michigan Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois. Colorado is making their first trip out here for the tournament. It is very diverse, top to bottom. I think the event is going to be very competitive."
On the condition of the course:
• "The golf course is in fantastic shape. The greens are probably as quick as they have ever been since my time here. I think we will see some really good scoring."
MOUNTAIN VIEW RECAP
• Spurred on by a field-low 290 on the final day of play, the Indiana women's golf team finished fifth at the Mountain View Invitational at Mountain View Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.
• Colorado State took home the title after winning a playoff against Texas Tech as both schools finished with a score of 890. UNLV was third (894), followed by Baylor (895) and the Hoosiers (896).
• "I am very excited about this round," said head coach Clint Wallman. "We got great play top to bottom from the lineup. They were clutch and showed a lot of heart out there. I think this gives us a great shot in the arm heading into our own tournament at home here in a couple of weeks."
• Senior Laura Nochta carded a 69 on the final day, tying her season-low round, to finish tied for seventh with a score of 222 (75-78-69). Senior Kellye Belcher also carded a 222 for the tournament, putting up a 76 on the final day of play (75-71-76).
• Freshman Jacqueline Yanch posted her low round of the tournament on Sunday with a 73 to finish tied for 28th with a 227 (78-76-73). Freshman Pamela Burneski recorded a 78 on the final day and tied for 46th with a 231 (75-78-78).
