Hoosiers Tied for Seventh at NCAA Central Regional

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Indiana men's golf team opened Thursday's first round at the NCAA Central Regional with a 5-over-par 285 and share seventh place with Michigan. Notre Dame and the Warren Golf Course are hosting the regional, where the top-five teams will advance to the NCAA Championship (June 1-6).
Stanford leads the 14-team field after carding a 3-under-par 277. Florida sits second (279) followed by LSU (280), Florida State (283), Virginia Tech (284) and Northwestern (284).
Sophomores Chase Wright and David Erdy both shot in red numbers for the Hoosiers. Wright topped the team with a 2-under 68 and is tied for sixth place overall.
Erdy collected a 1-under 69 on the opening 18 and finds himself in a share of eighth place. Michigan's Alexander Sitompul shot the low round on day one with a 4-under 66.
Getting their first taste of NCAA action, true freshmen Brant Peaper and Corey Ziedonis claimed a 73 and 75, respectively. With his round, Peaper enters day two in a tie for 36th while Ziedonis shares 52nd.
Rounding out the lineup, senior Alex Martin posted a 76 and is tied for 58th.
The Hoosiers will look to move into the top five in the second round on Friday. Martin will hit the links first for Indiana, teeing it up at 8 a.m. EDT from No. 10. Ziedonis (8:10), Peaper (8:20), Erdy (8:30) and Erdy (8:40) will follow Martin.
