IU Tops Czech Youth National Team on Day Two

PRAGUE, Czech Republic - Day two of IU Volleyball's European Tour brought match number one to the docket, a showdown with the Czech Youth National Team. The Hoosiers shook off an opening set loss to win the match, 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-20).
Sam Thrower and her 10 teammates hosted a block party in Prague, racking up 16.5 team blocks in the four-setter. Thrower paced the Hoosiers with eight block assists, followed by five swats apiece for Mary Chaudoin and Ashley Benson. In the backcourt, Caitlin Cox was IU's top performer, picking up 16 digs.
Offensively Jordan Haverly led the way in quantity with her 14 kills while Kelci Marschall was the most efficient swinging Hoosier, posting a .381 (9-1-21) hitting percentage. Benson was also a force on the offensive side of the net, notching 12 kills while hitting .267.
As is traditional with international play, the teams exchanged gifts before the match. Following the contest, it was back to sightseeing for the Hoosiers. It was the travel party's first opportunity to roam through downtown Prague during daylight with time to shop, dine, visit and truly experience the culture and city.
Saturday marks the final full day in the Czech Republic before the Hoosiers head to Maribor, Slovenia. However, the tour will make a five-hour stop in Vienna, Austria for some sightseeing before arriving in Maribor. A tour of Prague's most famous castle highlights the sightseeing docket for tomorrow (Saturday).
