BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana's Alex Martin and David Erdy are two of the 153 players recognized nationally as Division-I PING All-Region honorees announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The pair of Hoosiers were selected to the All-Midwest Region squad.
Martin, a senior from Middletown, Ohio, capped off his Hoosier career by earning his second consecutive All-Big Ten selection and leading IU with a season scoring average of 72.33, the eighth-lowest in school history. He also picked up his second career medalist honors this year, taking home The Renaissance Intercollegiate individual title to close out the fall season. Martin garnered two top-5 and five top-10 finishes during the 2009-10 season. His career scoring average (74.18) ranks eighth all-time at Indiana.
Erdy was right behind Martin, posting a season average of 72.79 (12th-best in IU history). He also tallied a pair of top-5 finishes while cracking the top-10 in four events this season. Entering his junior year in Fall 2010, Erdy will be slotted fourth all-time for career scoring average at 73.62 strokes per round. The Boonville, Ind., native was IU's most consistent performer in '09-10, finishing in the top-25 nine out of 11 tournaments.
