Robinson Named Academic All-American

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Wendi Robinson has been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America third team, CoSIDA has announced. The honor is bestowed upon student-athletes in the sports of cross country and track and field whom excel on the track as well as in the classroom. Robinson is the second Academic All-America for IU track and field in as many seasons.
Indiana track and field director and head coach Ron Helmer said Robinson has represented the ideal student-athlete with her excellence in the classroom as well as on the track.
"Wendi has been a great example of what we want a student-athlete to be at Indiana," Helmer said. "She has been an All-America caliber athlete and student. We are very proud of all of her accomplishments at Indiana."
Robinson earned All-Big Ten and All-Region honors during the cross country season and was also honored as an All-Academic selection by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Robinson was instrumental in leading the Hoosiers to a team berth the NCAA Cross Country Championships in November and recently competed at the NCAA Track and Field East Preliminaries in Greensboro, N.C. In 2009, Robinson was an All-American in cross country. She is an Academic All-Big Ten and CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District honoree as well as a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Big Ten Medal of Honor winner.
