BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -
Sophomore Jakie Köhli of the Indiana University women's water polo team earned honorable mention All-American status, announced on Thursday by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches.
Köhli set the single-season Indiana scoring record during the 2010 season with 80 goals, while also leading the team with 72 steals. Köhli's stellar sophomore campaign included 15 games with three or more goals. She ended the year with the third highest scoring output in the CWPA, while helping lead the Hoosiers to a 21-11 overall record and a No. 12 national ranking at season's end.
Köhli was named to the CWPA All-Western Division first team, while also collecting two Western Division Player of the Week honors and two Defensive Player of the Week awards. Her accomplishments were not limited to the pool, as she also earned spots on the Spring Academic All-Big Ten and CWPA Scholar-Athlete teams.
Köhli is the sixth Hoosier to earn All-American status since the varsity program began in 1998. Brooke Zimmerman was the last Hoosier to earn the recognition, as she was named an honorable mention All-American in 2008. Current Indiana assistant coach Kandace Waldthaler garnered third team AWPCA All-American honors in 2005.
Köhli has accumulated 109 goals, 66 assists, and 134 steals during her first two seasons at Indiana.
