Hoosiers Crack NSCAA Preseason Top-25

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Less than a week before the start of preseason camp, the Indiana University men's soccer team finds itself ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) top-25 as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
The Hoosiers are tied with regional foe Louisville at No. 20. Akron holds the top spot, followed by 2009 NCAA Champion Virginia, Wake Forest, North Carolina and UCLA.
A total of six teams that appear on Indiana's 2010 schedule are among the top-25, led by the fifth-place Bruins. The Hoosiers play host to UCLA on Sunday, Sept. 5 in the final game of the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic. Indiana is looking to "Fill the Bill" that day in the hopes of breaking the attendance record of 7,423 set against UCLA in 2007. The match will also be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network.
Indiana will play host to No. 9 Northwestern on Oct. 31 at 5 p.m. in another match that will be shown live on the Big Ten Network. No. 14 Drake squares off against IU on Sunday, Sept. 12 at the Mike Berticelli Memorial Tournament in South Bend, Ind.
The 2010 regular season will come to a close against No. 18 Ohio State on Sunday, Nov. 7 in Columbus. No. 24 Michigan State will welcome Indiana to East Lansing on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. Preseason opponent Duke is ranked 11th. In addition, opponents Notre Dame (Oct. 6) and Penn State (Sept. 24) were among those receiving votes in the poll.
Indiana is coming off a season where it went 12-10-1 and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. Head coach Todd Yeagley will make his IU head coaching debut in the regular season opener on Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m. against California in the Mike Berticelli Memorial Tournament.
