Indiana Outshoots Kentucky in 2-0 Loss

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Despite holding a 18-10 edge in shots and a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks, a pair of Indiana (1-1-0) mistakes turned into a pair of UK goals and a 2-0 loss at the UK Soccer Complex on Friday night.
"While we are disappointed that we lost the game," Indiana head coach Mick Lyon said, "We did play very well. We had more shots, more corners and we really pushed them."
The Wildcats (2-0-0) got on the board in the fourth minute after they stole a pass up the sideline and quickly centered the ball to Natalie Horner for her first goal of the season. That shot would be the only one in the first 45 minutes for UK, as the IU defense clamped down and the offense took over with eight shots of its own in the half.
In the second half the Hoosiers kept the pressure on the Kentucky defense, registering 10 more shots, four of which were on goal.
"Our shots just hit the keeper in the hands," Lyon said, "and she was able to hang on to them. But we did improve on getting more shots on goal from our first game so that was very good to see."
UK struck again in the 71st minute on a shot by Kelsey Hunyadi that deflected off an IU defender in front of the goal and went in to increase the lead to 2-0.
Indiana goalkeeper Lindsay Campbell made four saves in the losing effort while Kentucky keeper Sydney Hiance made eight saves of her own to earn the shutout.
Indiana is back in action on Sunday against Butler starting at 1 p.m.
